"270 meters didnt sound that far but I think I'm gonna die"
When you think of track cycling you tend to think of high performance athletes in lycra suits on a shiny velodrome. Well at Special Ops were always keen to buck the trends and as a part of the All Track 09 fixed gear bike series we hosted the Ghettodrome sprints. We used the old Avondale velodrome, 4 light towers, the Hummer and a BBQ to hold New Zealands most uncoventional track cycling meet ever. We held a 32 man head to head elimination sprint to see who is the fastest. It turns out that on this night it was Ken aka B3ans wearing a very fetching team Australia kit who had the legs to take the win but really I think everyone who showed up won because it was one of the most fun events we’ve held and even the rain did nothing to dampen anyones spirits!
